I would recommend Laura to other non-profits without reservation. Her consulting fees are reasonable and she delivers as promised.

Don’t let the economy stall your mission: Fundraising can – and should – continue in tough economic times.
As a consultant, my chief concern is the achievement of my clients’ missions. When the economy falters, as it is now, many clients ask: “Aren’t people hurting and being more careful with their money? Should we keep asking for gifts?”
My answer is an unequivocal YES. Although the tough economy may affect your bottom line, and many folks may not be able to support you at the same level this year, you owe it to your clients and your mission to keep asking.
Professional fundraisers agree that the best strategy during this crisis is to stick to the basics: make a compelling case, honor your donor relationships, and communicate consistently with your donors.
One client told me her board wants to suspend fundraising activity for the year-end 2008! Don’t let this happen! It is important to prepare your board for the possibility that you might not reach 100% of your fundraising goals this year, but don’t let them lose hope entirely and give up asking. Share articles and information with your board members, find champions who understand and can help you sustain momentum, and make sure your Executive Director is in agreement with you.
Remind yourself and your board that while some donors may be hit hard by the economic downturn, many are not. But one thing’s for sure: your clients are probably among the hardest hit and need your support more than ever. Keep visiting your donors and talking to them about the special needs of your population during this time.
The work of our nonprofits is especially important when people are hurting. Fall back on what you know about the basics of fundraising and hold firm to your mission. Keep up the good work!
